She played a pivotal role in Reuters TV coverage of the Euro zone financial crisis and most recently provided analysis and up-to-the minute breaking updates on Britain’s vote to leave the European Union.

With strong editorial and technical expertise, Maryam’s assignments have seen her reporting, shooting and blogging from Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North America – covering stories that range from corporate responsibility of sex workers in Cambodia to the economic resurgence of Iran.

As a correspondent in Shanghai, Geneva, Paris, New York and Toronto, Maryam has interviewed high profile politicians, former world leaders and public figures with notable guests like former Secretary-General of the United Nations Kofi Annan to business tycoon Richard Branson and Bill Gates and Hollywood icon Shirley MacLaine.

Born in Iran, Maryam immigrated to Canada during the Iran/Iraq war and started her career working in Southeast Asia and the Middle East developing programmes that shed light on international human rights issues, government accountability and social inequalities.
